    Treatment

    Alcohol Detoxification

Detoxification is a medically supervised stabilization treatment program for alcohol addiction, designed to purge the body of intoxicating substances. Generally, it is the first step in overcoming addiction and is part of a planned program of rehabilitation at Matrix. A body badly burned by alcohol does not recover overnight nor do twisted thinking and depression vanish in an instant.

In order to avoid alcohol withdrawal symptoms, some medicines may be temporarily prescribed. The type of medication and the length of its use for detoxification takes into account the patient’s individual specific needs.

Matrix provides a stimulating and supportive environment for patients at all times. This enables patients to develop alternative coping strategies. During the program, the warm and friendly surroundings of the clinic promote a feeling of safety and security in the rehabilitation process, allowing the patient to feel protected and to appreciate the treatment. However, the nature of the program, combined with the individual’s need to get on with life, means the treatment process will be intense. This is essential to produce the desired result.

    Alcoholism Treatment

Becoming addicted to alcohol is one of the most traumatic and frightening experiences an individual can have, and can seriously impact the quality of life, affecting both the central nervous system and personalities of the addict. Addiction to alcohol is a medical issue and can grow quietly like a cancer, creating massive havoc in people’s lives before they realize they have a serious problem. By the time the problem is addressed, the situation may have reached crisis point and the alcohol dependency can seem huge and impossible to combat. To produce effective results, the treatment program includes detoxification and a wide range of workshops and sessions allowing the addict to address issues of a physical, emotional and psychological nature.

Alcohol is often the answer for many people when dealing with stressful or problematic situations. But there is a way out and Matrix provides a stimulating and supportive environment as patients develop skills necessary to abandon alcohol as a solution to life’s problems and difficulties. This includes instilling the belief that the patient can cope without drink totally and without compromise. During the program, the warm and friendly surroundings of Matrix will assist in the rehabilitation as it promotes safety and security throughout, making the patient feel protected and appreciate the necessity of treatment.

The treatment will also explore the way in which alcohol can deny opportunity and rob people of their self-worth and will reinstate self-esteem in our patients and release them of the alcohol obsession. The patient needs to believe that there is life after alcohol – and a rewarding one at that. The treatment can only be viewed as a success if the patient values their role in society and recognizes the potential of a fulfilling life without alcohol. We teach the patient the belief that there is a rewarding life after booze and that they have a positive role in society

Drug addictions, including hard or illegal drugs, and prescription medications, are detrimental to mental and physical health and ruined lives to the ground but it seems that drug addiction is the most problematic and difficult to overcome. When life has become unmanageable, even those who decide to get their act together soon discover that the recuperation process is not easy and often leaves the addict with feelings of loneliness and helplessness, that there is something missing. Before treatment, in the outside world, the feeling is that the addict uses drugs to live, and lives to use drugs.

Addiction is a progressive chronic disease that can be successfully treated and it is said that the first step to rehab is recognizing the problem. The second step is information and a wise choice regarding the best rehab center in order to maximize the chance of a strong success. Our goal at Villa Matrix is that patients respond positively to the treatment experience.

    Drug Addiction Recovery

Drug Rehab is challenging. Initially there is an intense physical phenomena during withdrawal but then the addict goes through rehabilitation as a result of a customized diagnosis determined by the severity of the addiction and type of drug used. Matrix offers a peaceful and familiar environment where life goes according to a predetermined schedule, but without putting too much pressure on our residents.

At Villa Matrix we provide those addicts in recovery process an intimate atmosphere under the direction of professionals in medicine, nursing, psychiatry, psychology, personal and family counselors, dietitians, fitness trainer and support staff, some of them recovered addicts themselves.

Roles are assigned to take care that areas will be clean and well maintained while freshly produced, gourmet home cooked meals help you focus on your recovery. Nutrition is an important element in a healthy recovery from addiction, and well balanced meals are a key factor in any treatment program. All meals are served kosher.

At Villa Matrix, residential treatment is offered to give a chance to get away from the distractions and triggers commonly found in daily life and allow the individual to recuperate and focus on getting physically and mentally better. Specific therapies based on proven and effective methods are offered for patients in need of individual care with problems of alcoholism, drug addiction, eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia and overeating, depression and anxiety, gambling, OCD and other addictive or compulsive behaviors.

    Gambling

Gambling is as much an addiction as any other which we address at Villa Matrix. Problem gambling, also called ludomania, leads to the fulfillment of fantasies or false gratification, taking wild risks in the hope that the next bet will make everything all right, as compulsive gamblers seek in an attempt to escape the real world despite negative social, personal and family consequences.

The condition of a pathological gambler is classified as an impulse control disorder, with sufferers exhibiting many similarities to those who have substance addictions. This can lead to lying, illegal acts, broken relationships, including family and property loss with catastrophic consequences. It may even lead to a deep depression which often can lead to suicide.

A series of counseling and therapy sessions are provided to our patients at Villa Matrix to reduce and control the harmful desires associated with gambling addiction, together with resolving the distressing consequences that the addiction may have caused. The treatment involves counseling, step-based programs, self-help, peer support, medication, alternative therapies, or a combination of these

    Internet

With the advent of the internet age and easy access to the worldwide web, increasing numbers of people are becoming addicted to the internet, including online gaming, social web, compulsive buying and porn. It might not be immediately recognized as an addiction even if it becomes an excessive computer use that interferes with daily life, seriously becoming a growing field of distress. This addiction is more frequently observed in young adults. It is now commonly called Internet Addiction Disorder or IAD.

Research links Internet Addiction Disorder with existing mental health issues, most commonly depression, with significant negative effects, including socially, psychologically and occupationally. Villa Matrix provides a series of counseling and therapy sessions to examine the underlying factors that drive the internet addiction. This enables a patient to discover who they really are and develop self acceptance, creating the ability to look inside themselves for the solution to their problems and develop healthy alternatives to internet abuse, resulting in a more balanced and productive life.

    Eating Disorders

Eating disorders are conditions defined by abnormal eating that may involve either insufficient or excessive food intake to the detriment of an individual’s physical and mental health. These abnormalities include anorexia nervosa – characterized by extreme food restriction to the point of self-starvation and excessive weight loss; bulimia nervosa – a disorder characterized by binge eating and purging, including self-induce vomiting, over-exercising, and the usage of diuretics, enemas, and laxatives. There is also binge eating disorder, or simply put, a sickening and often fatal addiction to food.

Recent studies in Israel have found evidence of a correlation between patients with bulimia and anorexia nervosa and substance addiction. Moreover, anxiety and personality disorders are common occurrences with patients of eating disorders, which are symptomatic of an addictive disease. The compulsive relationship with food, distorted self-image and self-hatred associated with anorexia, bulimia and overeating characterize the discomfort that drives other addictive behaviors.

At Villa Matrix we provide a nurturing, contained and friendly environment in which sufferers can learn to live free from food-obsession. We put strong emphasis on providing healthy nutritious fresh food for our patients. Therapy is at the centre of our program. We find this works on multiple levels, increasing self-awareness, promoting the ability to communicate and interact successfully with others, heals shame and increases self-esteem.

The primary goal of the treatment program at Villa Matrix is to provide patients with the tools to live in a healthy relationship with food and prepares each participant for a healthy life in the outside world.

    Dual Diagnosis

Dual Diagnosis (also called co-occurring disorders, COD) is the condition of suffering from a mental illness and a co-morbid substance abuse problem. It may be depression and alcoholism, or bipolarity and drug addiction, stress and gambling, anxiety and eating disorders with drug abuse, etc.

Diagnosing a primary psychiatric illness in substance abusers is challenging as drug abuse itself often induces psychiatric symptoms, thus making it necessary to differentiate between substance induced and pre-existing mental illness.

At Villa Matrix we integrate treatment involving a blend of therapies into a single coherent treatment package for each individual patient, developed with a consistent philosophy and approach among our team of psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers providing the required care while preparing the patient for a balanced and healthy life after treatment.
